Killeen Pet Foster is a mediator for the greater Killeen/Fort Hood area only. We collect foster home contacts for local rescues.
Note: We do not have any military/deployment fosters due to the lack of long-term volunteer foster homes and funding.

Signing up as a foster home with Killeen Pet Foster means you will stand by to foster for one of the local rescue organizations. You can volunteer for many different things: to wean kittens or puppies, nurse a sick shelter dog, or give an animal a home that needs to get away from a shelter environment to destress, or get used to staying in a home environment. We sometimes have stray animals that are too promising to end up in a kill shelter and try to find them homes while they stay in a foster home. Right now we have a dog momma in foster whose pups are almost ready for adoption

We sometimes need fosters for dogs and cats over extended holidays, so that rescue shelter staff can maybe stay home and celebrate with their families.

You can choose what you want to do. If you have never fostered, we encourage you to volunteer for short term foster first (up to three months) and see how you like the experience. We do not recommend you volunteer for a long term fostering situation if you have never experienced this sometimes life changing task.
